Open Waterbike Architectures
Two different top-tier architectures have been selected for the Open Waterbike:
- mono: stabilized monohull
- cat: catamaran
Cat
Catamarans are the most convenient choice when length is constrained or user friendliness is an important issue.
Cat have number of advantages: intrinsic stability, user friendliness and the perception of safety, comfort.
Mono
Stabilized monohulls are in principle the most efficient and thus fastest long-distance Human Powered Boats.
Their hull is optimized for minimum drag at the design power, with little or no attention to roll stability that is provided by different types of ‘stabilizators’. Roll stability is therefore a central issue for monohulls.
