Lamar to develop Drela's flexible shaft

Lamar, the Italian firm that manufactured the Open Waterbike prototype 0, is developing a new drive unit based on the 'flexible shaft' concept

We learned from Franco Mazzante, owner of Lamar Udine, the small Italian firm specialized in composites that built the Open Waterbike prototype, that the firm is developing a new drive unit based on the 'flexible shaft' concept proposed by Mark Drela, professor at the Massacchussets Institute of Technology. 'Although we are satisfied with our drive unit - said Mr. Mazzante - the flexible shaft concept is quite interesting, so we decided to build a prototype of it for evaluation purposes' Professor Mark Drela of MIT sent to us his 'flexible shaft' transmission system sketch; you can find it in our 'components' section.
